Official Jellyfin media naming documentation, “External Subtitles and Audio Tracks”, is the source for visible external-subtitle naming and the contextual hi flag. Source observation date: 27 September 2026.

Deterministic boundary

• Different canonical language tokens remain unresolved regardless of order.
• Aliases for one canonical language do not create ambiguity.
• en.hi uses the contextual hearing-impaired flag; hin remains Hindi.
• Unreviewed extensions and tokens stay unknown.

Never established

Same-folder placement, server scan, effective flags, embedded streams, client compatibility, selected track and playback remain unobserved.

Measurement meaning

A consented completion can mean only that trusted edited inputs were submitted and every visible-name outcome was fully interpreted by this bounded model. Invalid, ambiguous, unsupported, unclassified and not-established outcomes use filename_audit_unknown. Neither event proves recognition or playback.
